Hello, There is a free pre-K program offered through Rocklin Unified, the first class of 20 was filled through a lottery system, but with 10 on the waiting list there is thought that a 2nd class may open if interest is there. Although they would take Rocklin residents first, it is worth asking if non-residents will be accepted. I've heard wonderful things about this program and have friends whose children are enrolled. See info below which was passed along to me:
In case you weren't aware, the Rocklin School District offers a pre-kindergarten class through Rock Creek Elementary School. It is called "Kindergarten: Foundation for Success Program." Research and experience show that children who are young when they are starting kindergarten may not do well because they are not developmentally ready. Placing a child in kindergarten before they are ready can damage their self esteem and overall feeling about learning. The Foundation program gives the children skills to allow them to view their first formal school experience as positive. This is an appropriate class for any child who is of kindergarten age, but may not be ready for the academic, social or developmental demands of the traditional kindergarten class. The first class was selected through a lottery system. However, there is still an opportunity for a second class based upon the positive response. If any of you are interested, applications and brochures may be picked up at Rock Creek Elementary School. The class is Monday through Friday mornings and it is absolutely FREE. It is paid for by the school district. Act quickly because the school district is currently trying to decide if they will have a second class- it depends a lot on the number of applicants.

The Foundation Program is an excellent program. Several of the preschoolers that I taught last year are currently in the foundation program and the parents have wonderful things to say about the program.
Should you not be able to get your child in, please feel free to contact me as I do offer a kindergarten readiness program right in your neighborhood. I offer 2, 3, and 5 day full and part time programs. Preschool hours are between 8:30am and 11:30am every day.
